Weight loss “magic pill”?

Weight loss “magic pill”?

When I tell people about nutritional therapy, a frequent question is, “How do I lose weight?” Or “What is the trick to losing weight?” Weight and body image is a concern day after day.

Everyday in pharmacy, I would also have clients wanting a “magic pill” for weight loss.

But ponder for a moment and check with yourself, what is more important- healthy body or a quick weight loss?

Personally I lost 4 kgs during my health journey. A kg a month starting from the first month. I initially didn’t even realise what was happening and contradictory to what many may think:
– I never skipped a meal &
– Always ate to satiety.

When you give the body what it needs and reduce the stressors, it will start to come to a balance. Keep in mind that we are all bio-individual so what one person may need may not be the same for another hence it is impossible to use the the same template on each person.

While I had some comments that I looked great and fit, I received plenty of negative criticism such as I look boney, anorexic or needed to eat XYZ. People even forced me to more junk food and sugar (Yes, I am serious!). So I was studying nutritional therapy and was not on any diet- just eating nourishing food yet I was being given unsolicited advice.

People failed to ask the positive- which was I was doing great, had better energy and lung capacity and I was not missing out anything. Rather I was getting in tune with my body, nourishing my body and also enjoying the not so nourishing foods intentionally when I wanted to.

What I remembered during this time was reading in a book by Professor Roy Taylor, “There is no biological reason why people need to put on weight during adult life”. Truly, I had returned to my early adulthood weight- my body had found its balance.

Your body deserves your love and attention and many times it will demand it- only if you will listen to it. It however listens to all that you say so be kind.

My invitation to you is to always love your body. If you know you haven’t been leading an optimal lifestyle and you are wanting to make a positive impact on your life, holla at me.

We plan a holistic approach together. You get the knowledge and make the choices. No fad diet, quick weight loss or over exercising which are all unsustainable & come with adverse effects. Your body is precious- it is not a punching bag so let’s not treat it like one.
